The Portland Precision Engineering workforce consists of trade certified Fitter Machinists, Boilermakers, Mechanics, Apprentices and Trades Assistants. We also employ Crane Operators, Riggers, and Plant and Equipment Operators.
All Portland Precision Engineering tradesmen are certified to Australian Standard for confined space entry. We also have eight tradesmen who are certified for unrestricted wind tower climbing having completed specialised training for working at heights and tower rescue.

Managing Director – Jon Dennis
Jon became Owner and Managing Director in April 2010 when Portland Precision Engineering acquired PFM (Portland Fleet Maintenance) . Prior to this, Jon worked for General Motors for 30 years in various roles in Manufacturing and Engineering Program Management.
From 1994 to the end of his GM career, Jon headed large-scale vehicle programs for GM in Europe, North America and Asia/Pacific. From 2005 – 2009 Jon was Vehicle Line Director at GM Holden in Port Melbourne where he led all VE program development and launches.
In addition to product development leadership, Jon was also responsible for product strategy and continuous improvement of his assigned programs. In this regard, he directed product specifications, quality improvement and cost control activities.
As Managing Director, Jon leads all Portland Precision Engineering operations but can also offer clients assistance in Strategic and Business Planning, Market and Business Development, Financial Analysis and Project Management.
Operations Manager – Gavan Ralph
Gavan joined Portland Precision Engineering as a Permanent Employee in 2011 after having worked as a casual for several years. He quickly moved into a leadership role leading the tradesmen on all projects. Prior to working for Portland Precision, Gavan worked in farming, road transport and fishing trades.
Workshop Supervisor – James Juri
James has 20 years of experience as a qualified Fitter/Machinist and Workshop Manager. James leads all workshop jobs and is lead designer for small to medium-scale engineering and maintenance jobs on site.
